A Bit About Kathy

From a young age, Kathy has loved crafting pursuits and has enjoyed making cards for more than 20 years.  This hobby and love of all things stationery (and letter writing) planted the seeds for Cherish to be born in 2009.  Also, when planning her own Wedding 25 years ago, Kathy loved making her own personal touches for the day.   She also has abiding memories of the Wedding suppliers who were just wonderful and made things so special.  They continue to inspire her today in all that she does with Cherish, as she strives for everyone to have this experience too (and the suppliers who fell woefully short in what they promised, and what they actually delivered, are a reminder of not wanting others to experience disappointment from Cherish).

Kathy has always had a passion for meeting and working with a diverse and interesting range of people, who all have stories to tell.  This therefore means that she absolutely loves having Cherish as there is no longer that sinking Monday morning feeling!!  Making any stationery, sourcing materials and thinking of fresh ideas and ways of making things, is a joy and a love.  Kathy is ably assisted with all things IT by her husband, and sometimes by their daughter, with anything related to photography and a creative eye.  Her work room will often have a diverse range of music on in the background and there is the fun that as it looks out over fields, deer and pheasants are regular visitors.  It is a light and airy space that even on the gloomiest of days, has a magical light quality within it.

Kathy will often be found on the Isle of Arran which is an inspiring place that refreshes and encourages creativity and ideas to flow.  She has however recently been visiting other Scottish islands and has developed a love for Harris too, especially the iconic beautiful beaches of white sands and turquoise water.

Kathy loves travel and has visited some incredible places around the globe and loves warmth and sunshine – she often longs for these through the long, dark, Scottish winters!  She has also been blessed to live in different parts of the UK – Elgin, Aberdeen, Stirling, Cambridge, Bridge of Weir and for the past 16 years in Helensburgh, near the bonnie banks.

Kathy has a love for walking and will often be found with her cameras, capturing some of the natural beauty that is so close by and some of this work will soon feature on greetings cards that are in the planning stages.  Swimming also features regularly and family life remains very important as a balance between Cherish and “down time” is hugely treasured.

Kathy loves laughter and chatter, and recognises that listening to Cherish customers is so vital to what she does well.  It is a massive privilege to contribute to a special occasion or celebration and Kathy loves that so many of the people that she has worked with are now regarded as friends.
